Ownership | Pastor Morgan Butcher | Venture Church

Sep 6, 2026  •  Morgan Butcher

What does it mean to move from simply attending church to taking ownership of the mission Jesus has given us?

In the final week of our All In series, Pastor Morgan talks about what it means to live with an ownership mentality. Ownership is more than having your name on a membership list. It means saying, “These are my people. This is our mission. You can count on me.”

Looking at the Great Commission, Acts 2, and Paul’s picture of the Church as the Body of Christ, Pastor Morgan reminds us that following Jesus is deeply personal, but it was never intended to be lived privately. We were created to carry the mission of Jesus together, each person bringing their gifts, serving their community, and taking responsibility for the people God has placed around them.

Ownership also expands our responsibility beyond ourselves. It means caring about our church, our neighbors, the next generation, our community, and people around the world. Through the mission of Jesus, we are called to live both here and there, recognizing that together we can take the Gospel farther than any one of us could alone.

The question is not simply, “Do I go to Venture?” The deeper question is, “Am I willing to help carry what God has entrusted to us?”
