This Week's Message Recap:

We often normalize stress by calling it “just being busy” or “a little overwhelmed,” but beneath those words is real pressure. Stress shows up when what is demanded of us feels heavier than what we can carry. The truth is that stress is not sin, weakness, or failure. It is a human response to life. Even people who love Jesus deeply still experience stress. The issue is not whether stress shows up, but whether we allow it to take over. While stress is inevitable, it was never meant to rule your life.

Psalm 55:22 gives us a clear invitation: “Cast your burden on the Lord, and He will sustain you.” The responsibilities, relationships, and pressures you carry may be part of what God has given you, but He never asked you to carry them alone. Instead of managing or holding onto stress, we are called to release it. This is an intentional act of trust. It means letting go of control and placing the weight in God’s hands. He may not remove every pressure, but He promises to sustain you so you do not break under it.

Casting your burdens starts with naming what is heavy and then releasing control over the outcome. Often, we know we are still holding on when we keep replaying situations in our minds, feel like everything depends on us, or struggle to truly rest. Real peace comes when we surrender again and again, trusting God as our sustainer. You do not find strength by carrying more. You find it by giving it to Him.

Questions to Consider:

  1. What is one specific burden or source of stress you need to clearly name before God this week?
  2. In what area of your life are you trying to control the outcome instead of trusting God with it?
  3. Which sign of still holding on, like overthinking, lack of rest, or pressure to fix everything, do you relate to most right now?
  4. What would it practically look like for you to cast your burden instead of carrying it this week?
  5. How would your life look different if you truly believed God will sustain you, even if the situation does not change?
