Part two of the kick off of our new series, “From Ruins to Revival,” begins with the nation God had promised to Abraham at a low point: its people captured and scattered, its cities and walls destroyed, and the temple and palace left in ruins. How did they end up there? The answer was not one single moment, but multiple choices for over lifetimes and generations that led to a divided kingdom, destruction, and eventually exile. Israel was in ruins, waiting for God to rescue them, restore them and revive them.
Israel' story is our story. We too, make multiple choices over many years that result in our lives and families and our nation being in ruins. But we take hope in the fact that God is not slow in keeping his promises, but he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish but everyone to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9 and that nothing can ever separate us from God's love (Romans 8:39). While we sit in the ruins, God is waiting for us to return to Him and He will help us rebuild and He will revive us.

Questions to Consider:

Reflect on Israel’s story. When you look at where you are today, what choices, circumstances, or events have helped bring you to this point?
Belshazzar KNEW the story of his grandfather Nebuchadnezzar's pride and then repentance before the Lord, yet Belshazzar still chose pride and defiance toward God. If you had to be honest, are you choosing to live in obedience to God, or are you stubbornly, pridefully choosing your own way? Are there areas that God is patiently waiting for you to surrender ? How can you "return" to the Lord and allow Him to begin to revive you?
As you look back, is there a time you chose to follow or trust God’s direction, even when it wasn’t easy? How did that decision impact where you are today and shape your relationship with God?
Israel did not arrive at this point overnight. How have small, consistent choices influenced your relationship with God? Is there an area where you feel God may be calling you to change direction?
God’s promise to Abraham remained true even as generations of Israelites made choices that led them away from Him. How does God’s faithfulness encourage you when you look at your own mistakes or past decisions?
